Guardian Homes

WHAT IS A GUARDIAN HOME?

We are excited to offer this opportunity to select families. We want to give our dogs the best possible care so we keep our pack small. There is a lot of requests for puppies that come to us. We have limited space in our home and want to give each of our dogs the opportunity to thrive in their strengths and training. This requires time and dedication to our dogs and activities. In order to continue to raise and rear amazing dogs, we place the best of our puppies in guardian homes to raise.

Guardian families are willing and excited to be a part of our program and give our breeding dogs a chance to be a part of a family for their entire lives. All parties benefit: our dogs have individual families, instead of sharing attention with a bunch of other dogs. They live in their own homes and get to experience all the things a pet dog should! Our guardian families get the benefit of only paying a low price and then getting money back for every litter after we pay the breeding health screenings for their dog. We then can continue to produce awesome puppies for our future families. The guardian families, dogs, and adoptive families get to benefit from our guardian program.

The guardian program gives you the opportunity for you to have a “pick of the litter puppy”, or adolescent/adult breeding dog for just a fraction of the full price. This puppy or dog is part of your family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Kcsgoldendream for a predetermined amount of time. Once this dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered at our expense. This dog will continue remain as member of your family and at the end of our breeding contract will become your forever family member and pet! The dog will live full time with you and only come back to us for short training periods, dog shows, breeding, and whelping/weaning.

WHAT COST IS INVOLVED?

The cost of a guardian dog/puppy is a price set by us, which is usually half the price as stated on the pedigree and pairing. Having an upfront cost helps us find only the best homes for our dogs and insures that the family is a good fit for a guardian home opportunity. After the birth and sale of the dog's first litter of puppies, we will refund the purchase price to the guardian home. Once any breeding related veterinary costs have been covered, the guardian home will receive a set amount for each additional litter from their dog as a thank you from us for joining our KCsgolden dream family

WHAT ARE GUARDIAN HOMES RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Guardian homes are responsible for the general routine veterinary care and wellness of the puppy/dog placed with them. This means annual well visits/ limited vaccines, titers and exams, feeding a premium food, supplements and treats, grooming, monthly natural flea/tick prevention, training, regular exercise, puppy classes and completing the CGC test,  socialization, and most importantly giving love to our goldens. Breeding medical costs are responsibility of KCS golden dream. Guardian homes  pay for medical care just as any other pet owner. It is vitally important that Guardian Homes keep close tabs on the dog as to not produce an accidental litter or injury. Dogs of breeding age will remain in the care of Kcs golden dream for the duration of their heat cycle and be returned to their families for a brief visit before whelping and puppy rearing begin. Once the puppies are weaned and placed in their new homes dams will be vet checked and returned to their own families for care until the next litter is in the works. Studs must stay up to date on eye clearances and vet care and come to stay at our home for a few weeks during heat cycles to be bred as planned to our females.

HOW MANY LITTERS WILL A DOG PRODUCE?

Each dog is individually assessed before determining how many litters they will have.  Most of our guardian dogs will have between 4/5 litters for us depending on the health and age of the dam/sire. Male dogs may be bred longer than our females so each dog will have a specific contract and written agreement. The health and well-being of our breeding dogs is a priority to us, and prior to any breeding, KCsgolden dream will receive clearance by our veterinarians.  Females and males are first bred around 2 years of age. Occasionally, we may decide to have fewer litters if we feel it is in the best interest of the dog to do so. This is also determined by Kcsgolden dream and our team of veterinarians.

WHY WE VALUE OUR GUARDIAN HOMES

Our goal is to provide high quality golden retriever puppies and bless our future puppy families!  We have done everything we can to make our breeding program excellent!  We start with the best of the breed, fully health tested dogs to have in our Kcsgolden dream lines.  We continue with top quality natural care, premium nutrition, love, and intentional socialization.  We thoroughly interview every interested puppy applicant to make sure our dogs and puppies only go to the best homes!  We make a lifetime commitment to every dog we breed and want to be able to continue to produce our amazing lines for years to come. The demand for puppies like ours is high and we are only able to raise so many spoiled dogs ourselves. Our guardian homes join our mission to provide families with the best goldens and allow us to keep our pack small on the home front so each dog can have the individual care and training to excel and thrive.
